September 2022

We had a cozy meeting during which President Sue gave a history of red work and shared many of her embroidered quilts. She even included quilts from friends to show possibilities. They all do amazing work.

THANK YOU Blue Heron Restaurant for allowing us to use your facility.

September Program – location change

We will be meeting the third Sunday of September, September 18, but if you come to SBCC you won’t find us there. FOR THIS MONTH ONLY, we will be meeting at Blue Herron Restaurant, 1365 2nd Street, Baywood. Yes, the restaurant is closed right now, but that’s why we can use the space.

President Sue Baker will be presenting “History of Embroidery and Redword”. Sue will display redwork pieces, some of which are original designs.

As of September 2, I do not know if there will be internet access. No internet means no Zoom. If it does work out we will use the usual link.

See you in September . . . on the 18th . . . in Baywood.

September and October Programs

September: President Sue will present her San Luis Obispo County historical quilts and additional red work quilts. She has original designs and lots of stories. I’ve seen photos, but it will be nice to see the quilt up close and personal. (Watch for a date and/or location change for our September meeting.)

October: Carla Klop, “From Quilter to Designer”. Carla first started hand quilting in 1976 and completed a quilt per year for the next 30 years. Upon discovering the rotary cutter her ideas went wild. She developed shortcut methods, patterns and tips.  In her presentation she will share the accidental path she took to go from Quilter to Designer. She will also share several quilts she has made over the past few years. https://www.kitsbycarla.com/
